Every once and a while someone comes along and sparks something in you. For me that person was a two year old angel.
A CT member of mine brought Tyler Burdick’s story to me just over a week ago and I was moved. I read his CaringBridge journal right before I put my two boys, ages 7 & 3, to bed. I brushed teeth, got jammies on and read bedtime story all while fighting back tears. I laid in between them in the bottom bunk while we read and then waited for them to fall asleep. I have days where I’m frustrated, up to my limit, and days I wish I could lock myself in the bathroom for five minutes of peace and quiet, but right then I wanted nothing more than to spend time with them, smell them, feel them and take in all the blessing that they truly are. I thank Tyler for that. He is a reminder that nothing is permanent. Even the things we think are perfect can be here on this earth for a short time. I have my babies and I thank God, a bit more today, that they are healthy.
At the prompting of my CT member, Mary Walden, I rallied a group of generous designers to create what has became my favorite piece. Tribute To Tyler.
